Sir Harold George Nicolson KCVO CMG (21 November 1886 – 1 May 1968) was a British politician, diplomat, historian, biographer, diarist, novelist, lecturer, journalist, broadcaster, and gardener. His wife was the writer Vita Sackville-West .

Harold George Nicolson was born at the British Legation in Tehran, Persia, on 21 November 1886, the third son of Arthur Nicolson, Acting Chargé d'Affaires (and future Head of the Foreign Office), and his wife, Catherine Rowan Hamilton, a member of a prominent Anglo‐Irish Protestant family.
