The gilded outer casing of the Guildhall clock is dated 1683. The Guildhall, which initially accommodated a market hall on the ground floor and a courtroom on the first floor, was built around 1550. [1] It was substantially remodelled with a new facade and a new council chamber being installed on the first floor in 1683.
From 1885 to 1918 the west part of Surrey had been represented by two seats - in the north the seat of Chertsey, in the south that of Guildford. Boundaries were redrawn for proper apportionment in time for the 1918 general election such that the same area saw three seats - Farnham in the west, Chertsey in the north east and Guildford in the south east.
Guildford offers residents excellent recreational opportunities with the Guildford Recreation Centre and the Fraser Heights Recreation Centre. The area is also home to Tynehead Regional Park and Surrey Bend Regional Park, both managed by Metro Vancouver and significant natural environments.
