Count Gottfried von Bismarck-Schönhausen (9 March 1901 – 14 September 1949) was a German politician and a conspirator in the 20 July plot. Biography. Born in Berlin, Bismarck was a grandson of the 19th century Chancellor Otto von Bismarck. He was a member of the Nazi Party and in 1933 he was elected to the Reichstag.

As Prime Minister of Prussia since 1862, he gained the comital title of Bismarck-Schönhausen in 1865 and the hereditary princely status of a Fürst von Bismarck after the Franco-Prussian War in 1871, followed by the Proclamation of the German Empire on 18 January 1871.
