General Gerard Lake. Born at Harrow, Middlesex, England on 27th July 1744. Served in the British army in the Seven Years’ War, in the American Revolutionary War, and in the wars of the French Revolution. Appointed Governor of Limerick in 1794, and became Commander of the Forces in Ulster in 1796.

Gerard Lake, 1st Viscount Lake. Viscount Lake, of Delhi and Laswary and of Aston Clinton in the County of Buckingham, was a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. The peerage was created on 31 October 1807 for the prominent soldier Gerard Lake, 1st Baron Lake.
Lake, Gerard, Viscount, an English general, who took a prominent part in suppressing the Insurrection of 1798, was born 27th July 1744. He served in Germany during the Seven Years’ War, and in America during the War of Independence. He was Lieutenant-Colonel under Cornwallis, and was taken prisoner at Yorktown.
