Gerald Anthony Scarfe CBE RDI (born 1 June 1936) is an English cartoonist and illustrator. He has worked as editorial cartoonist for The Sunday Times and illustrator for The New Yorker.

5 de abr. de 2024 · Gerald Scarfe is an English caricaturist best known for his savagely grotesque portraits of politicians and other public figures. For most of his first 19 years Scarfe was bedridden with chronic asthma, and he began to draw during these long periods of confinement.
Gerald Scarfe was born on 1 June 1936 in St John's Wood, London, the son of Reginald Scarfe, a City banker, and his wife Dorothy, a teacher. As a child Scarfe suffered severely from asthma, and spent a lot of time in bed, being frequently in hospital - "a very lonely childhood" he recalled.
