Gerald French & The Original Tuxedo Jazz Band. The Original Tuxedo Jazz Band is the oldest established jazz band in the world. Organized in 1910 by Oscar “Papa” Celestin, the band has been one of the main sources of New Orleans Jazz for more than 110 years.
Gerald French carries the mantle of jazz on his giant shoulders as the leader of the Original Tuxedo Jazz Band, arguably the oldest jazz band in the world. The Original Tuxedo Jazz Band, was founded in 1910 by cornetist Oscar “Papa” Celestin, and run for many years by Gerald’s grandfather, Albert “Papa” French.

Gerald French is a drummer from New Orleans with a long history of performing with various jazz bands and musicians. He is endorsed by Sabian Cymbals and Taye Drums and has traveled the world with his own bands and the Original Tuxedo Jazz Band.
Gerald French joined the Original Tuxedo Jazz Band as their new drummer, replacing his uncle, fellow drummer Bob French. Gerald, the son of bassist and singer George French, spent his formative years as a musician at the Fifth African Baptist Church.
