George Brooke, 9th Baron Cobham (c. 1497 – 29 September 1558) KG, lord of the Manor of Cobham, Kent and of Cooling Castle, Kent, was an English peer, soldier and magnate, who participated in the political turmoil following the death of King Henry VIII.

George Brooke, 9th Baron Cobham, was a prominent courtier and soldier during the reign of Henry VIII, and elevated to the Order of the Garter by Edward VI. Like that of the Countess of Surrey, this drawing adopts an arresting frontal pose that is unusual in the work of Holbein, who generally favoured the three-quarter view. Cat. 142
