    Gamma Ray is the self-titled EP released by Josh Homme's project post-Kyuss under Man's Ruin Records. The band known as Gamma Ray would soon change their name to Queens of the Stone Age, under the threat of being sued by a German heavy metal band of the same name. The EP was released circa 1996.     2000 copies were pressed on clear vinyl. One thousand of these have a "G" and a ray in the center and the other thousand have several black circles with gray straight-forward superimposed on them. The vinyl pressing of Gamma Ray is very rare, since it has been produced on a short demand before Gamma Ray would become QOTSA and Man's Ruin Records has gone under.

    The insert in one of the two pressings says: "READ THIS : This is the Gamma ray featuring Josh HOMME of KYUSS fame. It is NOT that guy from HELLOWEEN or whatever"

  3. In 1996, they released the eponymous Gamma Ray EP, featuring "Born to Hula" and "If Only Everything" (which would later appear on their self-titled debut as "If Only"). The EP featured Matt Cameron of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam , Van Conner from Screaming Trees, and percussionist Victor Indrizzo .

The Gamma Ray material was re-released in 1997 on the Kyuss / Queens of the Stone Age split EP, along with the additional track "Spiders and Vinegaroons" from the Gamma Ray sessions; the release featured some of the final studio recordings by Kyuss while debuting the "Queens of the Stone Age" moniker for Homme's new project.
