Frances Grey was the daughter of King Henry VIII's sister Mary and Charles Brandon, 1st Duke of Suffolk. She was the mother of Lady Jane Grey, who ruled England for nine days in 1553.

Frances Brandon was the elder daughter of Charles Brandon Duke of Suffolk (a country gentleman ennobled by Henry VIII) and Henry's younger sister, Mary Tudor, formerly Queen of France, whose marriage to Louis XII lasted three months, leaving her free to give her hand to Suffolk as soon as her period of mourning was over.
9 de ago. de 2019 · In the summer of 1551, there was an outbreak of the sweating sickness and Frances’ two half-brothers Charles and Henry Brandon died leaving the title of Duke of Suffolk available. Henry Grey was endowed with the title by right of his wife and she was now a Duchess.
