Emmanuel von Mensdorff-Pouilly. Biografia. A família Mensdorff-Pouilly tinha origens no baronato de Pouilly em Stenay, no rio Meuse em Lorena.
Emmanuel Graf von Mensdorff-Pouilly (24 January 1777 – 28 June 1852) was an army officer in the Imperial-Royal Army of the Austrian Empire, and vice-governor of Mainz. He was the uncle of Queen Victoria and the godfather of her husband, Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha .
In 1818, Emmanuel von Mensdorff-Pouilly received a comital title from the Austrian Emperor, and he was recognized as noble in Bohemia (the Inkolat) in 1839. Through Emmanuel's wife, Princess Sophie of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, the family is closely related to the royal families of Belgium, Sweden, Portugal, Bulgaria and the United Kingdom.

His sons Albert (1775 – 1799, fell in battle in Italy) and Emmanuel (1777 – 1852) take the name Mensdorff (from a village in the county of Roussy in Luxemburg). In 1818 in Austria the family was bestowed with the title Count and in 1839 the title was given Czech recognition.
