A biography of Elizabeth Tilney, the only surviving child of a Norfolk gentry family and the heiress of some twelve manors. She married twice, first to Sir Humphrey Bourchier, who died at the Battle of Barnet, and second to Thomas Howard, son of Sir John Howard, who became Earl of Surrey and a Yorkist supporter. She died in 1497 and had a large family of children and grandchildren who played a key role in the Tudor court.
