He married Elizabeth Russell, with whom he had seven children. Elizabeth Cromwell (baptised 2 July 1629 – August 1658), married John Claypole, with whom she had four children. CLAYPOOLE or CLAYPOLE, ELIZABETH (1629–1658), second daughter of Oliver Cromwell, was born on 2 July 1629 (Noble). Her marriage to John Claypoole [q. v.] took place in 1646. She was the favourite daughter of her father, to whom her spiritual condition seems to have caused some anxiety.

Elizabeth Claypole [nb 1] ( née Cromwell ; 2 July 1629 – 6 August 1658) was the second daughter of Oliver Cromwell , Lord Protector of the Commonwealth of England, Scotland and Ireland , and his wife, Elizabeth Cromwell , and reportedly interceded with her father for royalist prisoners.
Her protracted illness and early death, in August 1658 contributed to Cromwell’s own decline. She was buried at Westminster Abbey. At the Restoration all of the commonwealth dignitaries buried there were removed, with the exception of Elizabeth whose grave was overlooked.
