Elizabeth Claypole (1629–1658) (copy of John Michael Wright) Second daughter of Oliver Cromwell. She married John Claypole of Northborough in 1646 near Peterborough. Claypole was the son of an old family friend. This is a copy of a painting by John Michael Wright which is now in the National Portrait Gallery.
In 1648 Elizabeth Cromwell married John Claypole (c.1623 - 1688), the eponymous son of a ship money defaulter whom Cromwell had raised to a baronetcy. The younger Claypole had fought on the Parliamentary side at the battle of Newark in 1645 - 46, and in 1651 was engaged in raising soldiers to oppose the march of King Charles II into England from Scotland.

Elizabeth Claypole (født 2. juli 1629, død 6. august 1658) var den andre datteren til Oliver Cromwell og hans hustru Elizabeth Cromwell (født Bourchier). 31 de mar. de 2024 · Her protracted illness and early death, in August 1658 contributed to Cromwell’s own decline. She was buried at Westminster Abbey. At the Restoration all of the commonwealth dignitaries buried there were removed, with the exception of Elizabeth whose grave was overlooked.
