Edward Morgan Forster OM CH (1 January 1879 – 7 June 1970) was an English author, best known for his novels, particularly A Room with a View (1908), Howards End (1910) and A Passage to India (1924). He also wrote numerous short stories, essays, speeches and broadcasts, as well as a limited number of biographies and some pageant plays.

Edward Morgan Forster was born in London in 1879. His father died in 1880, but he and his mother were left affluent. He spent his early childhood near Stevenage in Hertfordshire, before the family moved to Kent so he could attend Tonbridge School. He was an academic success, and went up to King's College, Cambridge, in 1897.
Edward Morgan Forster, generally published as E.M. Forster, was an novelist, essayist, and short story writer. He is known best for his ironic and well-plotted novels examining class difference and hypocrisy in early 20th-century British society.
