18 de mar. de 2024 · Anne Hyde, born March 12th, 1637, daughter of Edward, first Earl of Clarendon. She was attached to the court of the Princess of Orange, daughter of Charles I., 1654, and contracted to James, Duke of York, at Breda, November 24th, 1659. The marriage was avowed in London September 3rd, 1660.

His sister, Anne, was married to James Stuart, Duke of York. The Royal Navy ship, H.M.S. Gloucester, was carrying the Duke and his retainers to Scotland.

Edward Hyde, who had not known of either the marriage or the pregnancy, was created Earl of Clarendon and his position as Charles's favourite minister was strengthened.
