Dunstable (/ ˈ d ʌ n s t ə b əl / DUN-stə-bəl) is a market town and civil parish in Bedfordshire, England, east of the Chiltern Hills, 30 miles (50 kilometres) north of London. There are several steep chalk escarpments, most noticeable when approaching Dunstable from the north.

Dunstable, town, Central Bedfordshire unitary authority, historic county of Bedfordshire, east-central England, on the northern slopes of the Chiltern Hills. Dunstable appears as a royal borough in the reign of Henry I (1100–35), who granted a charter to the Augustinian priory he had built.
