For everyone not in know, Douglas Munro is the Coast Guard’s only Medal of Honor recipient. He was a signalman first class and led a group of small boats to rescue over 500 trapped marines (who were led by chesty puller it’s worth noting, Munro saved Chesty, he was one of the marines evacuated) and helped evacuate them during a firefight with the Japanese at Point Cruz.
