Abstract. Counterrevolutions have received far less scholarly attention than revolutions, despite their comparable importance in shaping the modern political world.

In other words, in line with Hypothesis 1, revolutions in which the opposition resorted to violence are significantly less likely to be overturned by counterrevolutions.
