Christina McKelvie (born 4 March 1968) is a Scottish politician. A member of the Scottish National Party (SNP), she has been the Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for the Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse since 2011, having previously represented the Central Scotland region from 2007 to 2011.
Christina McKelvie is the MSP for Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse since 2011. She is also the Minister for Culture, Europe and International Development, and has spoken on topics such as humanitarian aid, Robert Coltart and Gaza.
Christina McKelvie is the Scottish Government's Minister for Drugs and Alcohol Policy since February 2024. She has been MSP for Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse since 2011 and previously chaired the Equalities and Human Rights Committee.
I am privileged to represent the people of Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse as their Member of the Scottish Parliament. My aim is to be an accessible MSP, available to respond to my constituents’ needs whenever and wherever possible.
The Scottish government minister for equalities and older people is temporarily stepping aside for an undisclosed condition. She will return to contest her seat at the Holyrood elections in May, while Shirley-Anne Somerville covers her duties.
