Catherine, Lady Walpole, wife of Sir Robert Walpole, Viscount Walpole and Baron Houghton, has a white marble memorial in the south aisle of Henry VII's chapel in Westminster Abbey. The square plinth is by sculptor J.M. Rysbrack surmounted by a copy of a Roman statue of Modesty by F. della Valle.

On 30 July 1700, Walpole married Catherine Shorter (1682–1737), the eldest daughter and co-heiress of John Shorter of Bybrook in Ashford, Kent (the son of Sir John Shorter (1625–1688), Lord Mayor of London) by his wife Elizabeth Philipps (born c. 1664), a daughter of Sir Erasmus Philipps, 3rd Baronet.
