William McNeill MBE (2 March 1940 – 22 April 2019) was a Scottish football player and manager. He had a long association with Celtic, spanning more than sixty years as a player, manager and club ambassador. McNeill captained Celtic's ' Lisbon Lions ' to their European Cup victory in 1967 and later spent two spells as the club's manager.

23 de abr. de 2019 · The legendary defender and coach, who led Celtic to the 1967 European Cup final and won nine league titles, died on Monday night surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was living with dementia since 2010 and had been a football legend for over 50 years. He was also a MBE, a Hall of Fame inductee and a candidate for the Scottish Parliament.
