Baria Qureshi:It's hard to explain my departure from The xx. It was not a distance, it was more than that. It was a matter of control, jealousy, emotions, resentment between us, and also tensions over money. The decision did not come from me, I was released without notice, and without a clear explanation.

[1] The band consists of Romy Madley Croft (guitar, vocals), Oliver Sim (bass guitar, vocals), Jamie Smith, also known as Jamie xx (beats, MPC, record production), and formerly Baria Qureshi (keyboard, guitar).

20 de jul. de 2010 · The xx, the London trio who won the 2010 Mercury Prize, have said they are happy for former member Baria Qureshi to join them at the awards ceremony in September. Qureshi quit the band last November, but the band say she is still part of their album and that they are shocked to be nominated for the award.
