Sir Arthur Stanley GCVO GBE CB (18 November 1869 – 4 November 1947) was a British Conservative politician, humanitarian, and Chairman of the Joint War Organisation of the British Red Cross Society and the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem in England during World War I and World War II.

In the south eastern chapel of Henry VII's chapel in Westminster Abbey is the grave and monument of Arthur Penrhyn Stanley, the great Victorian Dean of Westminster. The monument, paid for by public subscription and designed by J.L. Pearson, was unveiled in 1884.
Political career. Stanley was educated at Eton College and Balliol College, University of Oxford, where obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1898. In 1902 he was called to the bar at the Inner Temple. In 1904 he became a London County Councillor and in 1906 became Liberal Member of Parliament for Eddisbury in Cheshire near the family seat.
