In the south eastern chapel of Henry VII's chapel in Westminster Abbey is the grave and monument of Arthur Penrhyn Stanley, the great Victorian Dean of Westminster. The monument, paid for by public subscription and designed by J.L. Pearson, was unveiled in 1884.

  4. Political career. Stanley was educated at Eton College and Balliol College, University of Oxford, where obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1898. In 1902 he was called to the bar at the Inner Temple. In 1904 he became a London County Councillor and in 1906 became Liberal Member of Parliament for Eddisbury in Cheshire near the family seat.
