Adam Young has previously attributed the name Owl City to the 1962 short film An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridgeamong other various answers. Ocean Eyes, Owl City's major label debut, was released on iTunes on July 14, 2009, with the physical release following on July 28, 2009. The album peaked at number eight on the Billboard 200 and topped the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart for four weeks. By April 2010, it was certified Platinum in the United States.
