Through her father, Richard Neville, the Great Grandson of John of Gaunt, Anne was cousins with King Henry VI and future Edward IV. Anne was a pawn in the ferocious political game of the later 15th cent. She was the second daughter of Richard Neville, earl of Warwick (‘the Kingmaker’). In 1470 Anne was married to Edward, prince of Wales, heir to Henry VI. But her father was killed at Barnet in 1471 and her new husband at Tewkesbury, three weeks later.
