Alfred North Whitehead nasceu a 15 de fevereiro de 1861, na cidade de Ramsgate (Kent), em Inglaterra. Foi um grande matemático e um dos grandes filósofos do século XX. De 1885 a 1911, foi professor de matemática no Trinity College em Cambridge, onde também tinha estudado.
O presente trabalho tem o objetivo de destacar o estado da arte da pesquisa sobre Alfred North Whitehead realizada no Brasil considerando como fonte de pesquisa as bases digitais de teses e dissertações a partir de 1985.
