Alexander Stewart, duke of Albany (born c. 1454—died 1485, France) was the second son of James II of Scotland, created duke of Albany in or before 1458. Both he and John, earl of Mar, quarrelled with their brother James III, who imprisoned them in 1479.

He was created Duke of Albany by his father the king before 1458 and was also given the earldom of March and the lordships of Annandale and the Isle of Man.
Early life. John was a son of Alexander Stewart, Duke of Albany, son of King James II of Scotland. He was the only son of his father's second marriage, to Anne de la Tour d'Auvergne, daughter of Bertrand VI of Auvergne. The ambitious though unsuccessful Alexander had fled Scotland to France in 1479, and married Anne.
