Der County Seat zur damaligen Zeit befand sich zunächst in Alvarado und wurde später nach San Leandro (1856) verlegt. Wenige Jahre darauf wechselte der County Seat nach Brooklyn (1872–1875). Brooklyn ist nunmehr Teil von Oakland, wo sich seit 1873/75 der County Seat befindet. Im Alameda County liegen 8 National Historic Landmarks.
