Linklater also made two more rotoscope movies Waking Life and Apollo 10.5 - which is one of the best animated movies of 2022.
What's so chilling about A Scanner Darkly is how close it is to reality. PKD called it Substance D, we call it by a million different names. The narcos make money manufacturing and selling, the rehabs make money "helping" addicts, and the government makes money (power), busting and imprisoning addicts and low-level dealers.
