The 2019 World Series was a best-of-seven playoff between the American League champion Houston Astros and the National League champion Washington Nationals, played from October 22 to October 30. The Nationals won the series, four games to three, to secure their first title in franchise history and first in the capital city since 1924.

Howie Kendrick hit a go-ahead homer in the seventh to break a 2-2 tie and complete a comeback from a 2-0 deficit in the series. Stephen Strasburg was named the MVP.
