Founded in 1845 as Queen's College Belfast, we became an independent university in 1908. Founded by Queen Victoria, the Queen's University in Ireland, was designed to be a non-denominational alternative to Trinity College Dublin which was controlled by the Anglican Church. The University was made up of three Queen's Colleges - in Cork, Galway and Belfast.
