Located in the heart of the Silicon Valley, Cañada College offers hundreds of day, evening, and weekend courses in more than 40 quality instructional programs, including sciences, business, multimedia, medical assisting, the arts, and technical training.
The current College of San Mateo campus was opened in 1963, followed by Cañada College, Redwood City, in 1968, and Skyline College, San Bruno, in 1969.
About. Cañada College opened in 1968. Its 131-acre site is located in the western part of Redwood City and overlooks the Bay. The College takes its name from Cañada Road, and the Spanish word “cañada” means a small canyon, glen or ravine. It is pronounced " cahn-YAH-duh ".
Biography. Black was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 14, 1951. She was educated at Cañada College in California, Sophia University in Yotsuya, Tokyo in Japan, and finished her schooling at San Francisco State University where she earned a bachelor's and master's degrees in education.
