Sunil Kumar is an Indian-born academic administrator serving as president of Tufts University since July 1, 2023. He was previously the provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Johns Hopkins University from 2016 to 2023.

17 de nov. de 2022 · Sunil Kumar, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Johns Hopkins University, has been named the next president of Tufts University by the Board of Trustees. An expert in operations management with a Ph.D. in electrical engineering, Kumar was previously dean of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
About President Kumar. Sunil Kumar is the president of Tufts University and assumed office on July 1, 2023. He is the 14th president of Tufts and the first person of color to hold the office. He also serves as a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Tufts University’s School of Engineering.
On November 17, 2022, the Board of Trustees voted unanimously to elect Sunil Kumar as the 14th president of Tufts University. Dr. Kumar, who currently serves as provost and senior vice president for academic affairs of Johns Hopkins University, will assume office on July 1, 2023.

17 de nov. de 2022 · Sunil Kumar, the operations management and research expert who served as provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Johns Hopkins University since 2016, has been appointed the next president of Tufts University. He is the first Asian American to lead a top-ranked U.S. university and has a strong background in engineering, business, and diversity and inclusion.
In this role, he was the chief academic officer and second-ranking member of the senior administration, responsible for promoting and coordinating Johns Hopkins’ teaching and research mission. He oversaw the university’s nine schools as well as several interdisciplinary programs and academic centers.
