He played for the Boston Red Sox, Arizona Diamondbacks, Kansas City Royals, Pittsburgh Pirates, St. Louis Cardinals, Milwaukee Brewers, and San Diego Padres.

On July 17, 1995, the 20-year-old made his major-league debut. “I said to myself, This is real, not something you dream about,” he recalled. Suppan was given a start against the Kansas City Royals.
