The word ingenious does not actually have the in-prefix for negation. Instead, it comes originally from the Latin ingeniōsus, which means "intellectual, talented, ingenious". At times in history it was also spelled "engenious".

5 de dez. de 2014 · I'm reading the book Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln. It mentioned that Lincoln replaced the phase "guardian angel" to "better angel". I don't understand what the phrase means. When we say "better", we are normally comparing two things. It doesn't make sense to me here. May I get your kind help?
23 de mar. de 2015 · You could pronounce it as. participants. participants's (i.e. "participantses") Occasionally, I prefer to pronounce participants' like I would participants's, which is "participantses". That occasional preference of mine is for clarity, but sounds awkward. Awkward because. users' sounds horrible as "userses".
I've noticed that there is a slight difference between typical British and American usage of these words. In the U.S., clever usually implies a certain amount of ingenuity, while smart implies general intelligence or knowledge. There is a feeling of lightness to clever; it is usually used for "little" things like a quick wit in conversation.
