  1. 7 de nov. de 2023 · I have another wiring issue with my Furnas Switch problem/question and am looking for a solution. It's off a 1947 SB9B. The front OFF tag says it's a Style RSB4, and it's made for South Bend Lathe Works. I just installed a new .5HP motor and am setting it up for 110 for now. The new motor runs in Forward only in the configuration below (just ...

If anyone happens to come across any old time Furnas Electric switches and such with the old style decal, please give me a shout. My dad worked for them back in the '60's and I'm feeling nostalgic. For my second grade science fair he got a bunch of stuff together and we wired it all up on two 3 ...

  3. 20 de ago. de 2018 · As Bruce mentioned, figuring out the flip/flop portions of the wiring is the challenge. I also spent a lot of time looking at the wiring diagram of my Furnas switch and the motor wiring diagram. I made these drawings for my future reference. Your switch may not be the same, but this is for illustration. The Off position. The Forward position.

  4. 7 de abr. de 2011 · The switch is a Furnas reversing drum switch, type J-5.Rated for 5hp ,220-550volts 3 phase. The motor tag says Wagner Electric Corporation, type RA,1 1/2hp,1750rpm,1 phase,220 volts9.6 amp, cont rating, frame 204,no.c2b. there are a bunch of wiring diagrams inside the cover of the switch but are pretty well worn away.

  5. 12 de mai. de 2016 · Motor "GR" should go to Switch "2". Motor "BY" should go to Switch "4". If forward and reverse are backwards swap Motor wires #1 and #2. If NO: It gets more complicated! FYI Here is a link to a wiring diagram from a similar Walker Turner KAB5E motor set up for 110V: Walker Turner KAB5E 110V Wiring. EDITED:

I desire to recreate the silk screen labeling on the switch's mfg tag but I've had no luck finding one on the internet. The existing tag is in bad enough shape that I cannot make out much of the wording.

  7. 25 de mai. de 2016 · Let's start with the easy part: my Furnas switch. Now here's how it's currently wired: To me, CW and CCW are not intuitive, as the motor plate describes (CW) as how my motor is wired when the switch is in reverse. So the older standard must define CW/CCW as looking from the NON-shaft end of the motor?

  8. 12 de mai. de 2016 · update: I just wanted to update this thread . I got my new capacitor in the mail but it was yesterday before I had time to install it and reassemble the motor. while it was off the lathe on the bench I plugged in to test and same issue, so I first swapped the green and white (motor 1,2) and it worked prefect both directions for 10-12 times testing on the bench don't know why but it did , I ...

  9. 22 de nov. de 2010 · I'm not sure where I got this diagram from but IIRC it is for some Furnas switch. I assume you have a capacitor start motor. If yes I think you want to wire it using the diagram "Condenser Motor - 4 Leads". L1 and L2 are the two wires white and black from your wall plug.

  10. 24 de fev. de 2018 · Same Furnas pressure switch, as came on it originally.. As for the origin of the switch source, who knows, I just get what they give me. The air compressor is powered 100% of the time, basically 24/7/365, it cycles when the switch tells it to run. Lately I’ve had worse luck with electrical parts made in Mexico, than parts made in China.
