The USDA Open Data Catalog is the authoritative source of publicly available USDA data. Also available are the XML version and JSON version of the catalog. USDA has several agencies performing research to provide analysis and statistics, including ERS, FAS, and NASS.
Data contained in FoodData Central can be downloaded. The download files are available both as an Excel-compatible CSV delimited ASCII file and in JavaScript Object Notation (JSON). View data type documentation for each of FoodData Central's data types.
