The University of Strasbourg (French: Université de Strasbourg, Unistra) is a public research university located in Strasbourg, France, with over 52,000 students and 3,300 researchers. Founded in the 16th century by Jean Sturm, it was an intellectual hotbed during the Age of Enlightenment.
Universidade de Estrasburgo tem sua origem no Gymnasium, instituição de confissão protestante fundada em Estrasburgo por Jean Sturm em 22 de Março de 1538 e que adquiriu o status de universidade em 1621. Em 1681 foi ocupada pelo Rei da França e foi ajuntada à França.

The University of Strasbourg was founded in the 16 th century by Johannes Sturm, a protestant scholar. Sturm created a Protestant Gymnasium in 1538 with the mandate of disseminating knowledge, one of the core values of Humanism.
