Metamorfismo Burial, de Carga ou Soterramento. Constitui uma forma de metamorfismo regional que aparece quando sequências sedimentares ou vulcanossedimentares atingem grandes espessuras.
8 de out. de 2023 · Burial metamorphism occurs when the confining pressure and heat cause constituents of deeply buried sedimentary or volcanic (volcanic and volcaniclastic) piles to recrystallize without associated deformation or magmatism. It is usually regional but can be local and often involve hydrothermal fluids.
Burial metamorphism is here equated with depth or load metamorphism. The term was first used by Coombs (1961) to describe a process of metamorphism that resulted in large-scale recrystallization but with no strong penetrative deformation.
The metamorphism sets in at about 200°C. Below this threshold temperature of the beginning of metamorphism, which is perhaps only slightly influenced by pressure, mineral assemblages of low-temperature sedimentary origin are stable. Download to read the full chapter text.

A burial-related diagenetic to low-grade metamorphic event, recorded in both basins, is locally overprinted in the Hualañé-Gualleco basin by contact metamorphism around the Jurassic dioritic to granodioritic intrusions (Fig. 1).
