Sir Ivor Henry Thomas Hele, CBE (13 June 1912 – 1 December 1993) [1] was an Australian artist noted for portraiture. He was Australia's longest serving war artist [2] and completed more commissioned works than any other in the history of Australian art.
1 de dez. de 1993 · Ivor Hele is Australia’s longest serving official war artist. A talented young artist, in the 1920s and again in the early 1930s, Hele travelled to Europe, studying in Paris with Louis-Francois Biloul, and then in Munich with Moritz Heymann.
Ivor Henry Thomas Hele (1912–1993) was born in the Adelaide suburb of Edwardstown. An official war artist in North Africa, New Guinea and Korea, his paintings reflect the essential nature of these theatres in their telling use of light and colour.
