29 de mai. de 2020 · New to Audacity. Need to open an mp4 file. Getting the following message: xxx.mp4 is an Advanced Audio Coding file. Without the optional FFmpeg library, Audacity cannot open this type of file. I’m using Audacity Version 2.4.1 Windows 10 Unable to find the link to get FFmpeg. If anyone can offer guidance, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

There are two buttons in Preferences to ‘Download’ the FFmpeg library: Preferences > Library > Download. Preferences > Library > Locate > Download.
24 de dez. de 2023 · If you have FFMPEG installed and you’re familiar with the command line, you could try something like this (without touching Audacity at all): ffmpeg -i input-video.mp4 -map 0:a -c copy output-audio.m4a. Replace input-video.mp4 with the name of your MP4 file and output-audio.m4a with what you want to call the audio file.

7 de nov. de 2022 · Judging by the OS version it seems that you have Intel Mac, so “ffmpeg_64bit_osx.pkg” should work just fine. Alternatively, if you have HomeBrew installed, you can use brew install ffmpeg. Audacity should pick libraries automatically. next page →. Hello, I’m running Audacity 3.2.1 on OSx 10.14.6.

2 de jul. de 2023 · Audacity does not include FFmpeg by default as it may be subject to licensing / copyright / patent issues in some countries. If an audio file fails to import into “out of the box” Audacity, there’s a very good chance that installing FFmpeg will enable Audacity to successfully import the file.
23 de ago. de 2022 · Audacity is going to decompress the file anyway so although it’s an extra step for you, it’s basically the same process. [u]MediaInfoOnline [/u] can tell you if it’s an MP3 but it won’t tell you if there’s a problem. If it’s MP3 it will say "MPEG Audio (Version 1) (Layer 3) ". Audacity doesn’t need FFmpeg for MP3s.
9 de jan. de 2021 · Download FFmpeg (FFmpeg_for_Audacity_3.2_on_macOS.pkg) No wonder people are confused: the file we tell them to look for doesn’t exist. BTW, the installer file currently provided appears work on an Intel Mac - at least Audacity recognizes them (I haven’t tested importing or exporting any exotic file formats).
17 de abr. de 2015 · If Libraries Preference says “not found” you cannot import files using FFmpeg. Note that you need all the shared FFmpeg files in the download to be present alongside avformat-55.dll when you select it. No you cannot move the files unless you go through the “Locate” process again.
