Long Biography. Werner Herzog was born on September 5th 1942 in Munich, Germany. He was the second son of Elisabeth and Dietrich Herzog. His mother fled Munich with her only few weeks old child from allied bombings.

Writer. Producer. Actor. Poet. He studied history, literature and theatre for some time, but didn't finish it and founded instead his own film production company in 1963. Later in his life, Herzog also staged several operas in Bayreuth, Germany, and at the Milan Scala in Italy.
