O Sonic Utopia é um jogo de aventura, disponível em versão demo, o qual aposta no conceito de mundo aberto, como em ROBLOX, ao mesmo tempo em que utiliza gráficos clássicos, em homenagem aos videogames em 8-bits e 16-bits, similar ao que é feito em Terraria.
