27 de fev. de 2024 · In general, a pH between 6.5 and 7.5 is good for a freshwater aquarium. Something that I did not know before is that the scale of the pH is logarithmic. Meaning that if a pH drops from 7 to 6, the water is 10 times more acidic. If the water from from 7 to 5, the water is a hundred times more acidic.

The main aquarium water parameters you need to test are pH, carbonate hardness (KH) and total hardness (GH). Nitrate, ammonia and nitrite test should also be performed. We recommend using our nitrate test .
What is the Ideal GH Level for Aquariums? As with KH, GH is measured in dGH (degrees of GH) and ppm. Ideally, freshwater aquariums have a GH between 4-8 dGH (or 70-140 ppm). All animals need some minerals, but certain fish like livebearers, goldfish, and African cichlids prefer higher GH levels.
