If you want to actually have a device future proof for 1440, you’d need to go AMD, maybe high end Intel, or a 4070 at least. A 4060 would probably run 1440 but in three years I don’t think it would run amazing FPS at 1440. I have an Asus 4060 (dual fan) with a Samsung 34" Ultrawide 1440p 100Hz monitor.
i have the rtx 4060 ti and i use it for 1440p. yes the card is about 20% faster than yours but they both can utilize the latest dlss and frame gen from nvidia. as long as you dont want to push ray tracing you will have a good experience in 1080p and probably 1440p 60 fps in games that allow you to use the tech in your card (frame gen and dlss).

The RTX 3060 Ti 8GB averages 79.5 FPS. The RX 6700 XT 12GB averages 81.9 FPS. Look at the data and make up your mind whether it's worth it or not.
Compared to the RTX 4060 Ti, the performance difference is 20%. AMD's Radeon RX 6700 XT 12 GB is 13% faster than the 4060, the Radeon RX 6600 XT is 10% slower. NVIDIA's aging RTX 2080 offers roughly the same performance as the RTX 4060, and the gap to the four year old Radeon RX 5700 XT is 20%.
4 de mar. de 2021 · As many of the reply's here are already showing - yes, freesync will work on Nvidia RTX series cards. However, the monitor must be connected over display port. It will not work over HDMI. Yep, AMD isn't an asshole that locks people out.

23 de dez. de 2023 · 4060 should be good enough. 16gb of ram frustrated me in vr 32 made my life better. It is the lowest rung of gpu, so it'll depend on the game and graphics options. Alyx is over 3 years old so it'll be fine. I have rtx 3060ti and in most games on VR i have 80fps on high settings.
19 de ago. de 2023 · It is overpriced for what it is. I'm sorry to say that the only reasonable 40 series card is the 4090. The 4060 performs like a 50 tier card. And has a lot of 50 tier characteristics. It's "that bad" yes. When evaluating product, we usually rate it by how effective it is for what it expects in return.
24 de set. de 2023 · The Rx 6700xt exists, as do plenty of other amazing GPUs on the used market. As for the 5500+4060 combo in particular, the 4060 only has 8x pci-e lanes and the 5500 doesn't support pci-e 4.0 so you will have scenarios where you get limited by the pci-e bottleneck slightly. The 5500 isn't a great processor, it really only matches a Ryzen 3600.
1 de jul. de 2023 · 4060 is a 4050, the 3060 is more powerful and cheaper, check it out. The real trade-off here is more VRAM vs. a little more raw performance and DLSS 3. Both are beneficial in their own way. The drop from 12 to 8GB is not insignificant. I regularly go over 8GB VRAM usage maxed out at 1440p.
