Completing the Mission is the sixth and final game in the Henry Stickmin series. Announced by PuffballsUnited in 2016, it was released four years later alongside The Henry Stickmin Collection on August 7th, 2020, exclusively on Steam. The game serves as a grand finale to the Henry Stickmin series, and contains 16 endings and 164 fails.

The missions in the game all involve The Toppat Clan making one final move. In most missions, they have a new Orbital Station, which they either are about to launch from the Toppat Launch Site in the Dogobogo Jungle (with the military trying to prevent the launch in The Toppat Raid) or have already launched and are now operating from Space. Some endings take place almost entirely on the Airship. Henry Stickmin's motives in the game change drastically, based on the combinations of endings that the player chooses. Henry will want to launch the rocket if he's sided with the Toppat Clan, stop it if he's working for the government, or break into it for the riches of the Toppats.

The game takes place after the events of Fleeing the Complex.

However, unlike the previous five games, which had one main story with different possible endings, Completing the Mission contains multiple possible stories. Which story/mission the player gets depends on a choice made at the start of the game which endings from Infiltrating the Airship and Fleeing the Complex the player wishes to continue from.

The only thing the missions have in common is that they all involve (the remains of) The Toppat Clan making one final move.

Henry's motives in the game change drastically, also based on the combinations of endings that the player chooses. Henry will want to launch the rocket if he's sided with the Toppat Clan, stop it if he's working for the government, or break into it for the riches of the Toppats.

After the events of Fleeing the Complex, the Toppat Clan is getting ready to launch their rocket into space to establish their orbital station.

Various scenarios will turn out from the different endings of Infiltrating the Airship and Fleeing the Complex, such as:

•Henry siding with the Toppat Clan.

    •Henry siding with the Government.

•Henry attempting to rob the Toppat Clan of their valuables or the space station (without the Government's help).

•Sabotaging the Toppat Clan Orbital Base from space.

Overall, there are 15 different paths the player can create by combining endings from Airship and Complex, and 16 endings; the combination Pure Blooded Thief/Convict Allies being the only path that leads to two different endings depending on the final choice made. It also is one of the two forks at the Final Selection of a game, the other being (Storage Bay: Captive)

Note: The Ending Multiverse Correction was also one of the two forks in the game, but since it does not count as an actual ending in game, it is not considered to be a fork.

It should be noted however that not all endings from the two previous games can be combined since some are incompatible. Picking "Rapidly Promoted Executive" and siding with the Toppat clan in Airship prevents the player from selecting "International Rescue Operative" and getting help from Charles due to Henry betraying the Government. Similarly, Picking the Ending "International Rescue Operative" will prevent the player from selecting the "Rapidly Promoted Executive" ending.

•Choosing any endings with reference to either Faction (The Government or the Toppat Clan) will remove selecting single/Multiple endings from the other game, respectively.

    The endings are:

•RANK CeO: Cleaned 'em Out (GSPI + GI)

    Toppat King

    •Ellie Rose •Reginald Copperbottom •Right Hand Man •Liam Rogers •Vance Kite •Jack Doogan •Frankie Pizza •Norm Hexter •Howard Lipton •Victoria Grit •Gerald Gruff •Billy Brown •Orbyn Lanp •Dan D. Lyons •The Magician •Major Hershell Panzer •Lucas Broomhandle •June July •Teemu Suomi •Ollie Andorin •Gerry Atrix •Merl Goldenfold •Anthony Lee •Fredrick Muenster •Smooshed Sammy •Pablo Sleuth •Thomas Chestershire

    •Sten Lundgren •Helmutt Vykoff •Perry Sherman •Icepick •Kayn West •Sal Malone •Mr. Lincoln •Whitehead •Paddy Pride •B. Hampton •Carlos Candela •Elizabeth Greene •Lars Greene

There are 27 achievements in the game. 3 of them are secret. 16 of them are the endings.

    Teasers and release

Series' creator PuffballsUnited announced the sixth installment to the Henry Stickmin series on November 22, 2016, on Newgrounds, revealing that the game will be "huge" and will take more than one year to come out. He also said that Ellie will return as a character. On January 4, 2017, Puffballs United officially announced that he started working on the sixth game. He said that the game will maybe be the final installment in the Henry Stickmin series and that it will be at least "3 times bigger than Fleeing the Complex". Unlike all the other games in the series, the sixth game will not be a free online Flash game, and that it would instead be released on Steam along with remastered versions of all the other Henry Stickmin games as part of The Henry Stickmin Collection. On December 12th, 2017, Puffballs United revealed part of an image that would later be fully revealed on January 3rd, 2018. The same day, the acronym for the game was revealed to be CtM. On May 22, 2018, in a new Newgrounds update, PuffballsUnited revealed the full title of the game: Completing the Mission. He also confirmed that Charles and "other loved characters" including Ellie will be making a return. On December 30th, 2018 a brief update was released, stating that the game was at 25% completion and showing a sneak peek of an updated Center for Chaos Containment logo, confirming its appearance in the game. On February 15th, 2019, a teaser was posted in Newgrounds, showing the game's path customization. Sometime after, Puffballs United livestreamed work on one of the fails in the game on Twitch. In this stream, Ellie, the Toppat Clan, guards from The Wall, and the Government are shown, officially confirming their return. The fail in question consisted of Henry tying a rope to a Rocket Launcher's trigger, Ellie throwing it in the air, and him pulling the trigger from the ground to fire it. While this would've let them fire the Rocket Launcher from a safe position, the Rocket Launcher was pointing down towards them the moment it was fired, so they only managed to hit themselves with the rocket. On July 5th, 2019, PuffballsUnited made a new post on Newgrounds expressing that the game had hit 50% completion. Additionally, a new teaser was shown and the Steam page for the Collection was launched, also containing a few new images. Finally, he reveals that a summer 2020 release is planned. On January 1st, 2020, PuffballsUnited did a New Year's update of the game. In this, the setting was officially confirmed to be a Toppat Clan base, and few new teasers were shown, including one on path customization, which showed that some path combinations won't be possible. On April 1st, 2020, a short video of the game was posted on his Twitter account, showing a fail of the game with Charles involved and a joke update of the game. In this video, Charles tells Henry via an earpiece that he will fire a subsonic wave into the base, which "should stun everyone that hears it", and that Henry "may want to cover his ears". The subsonic wave kills everyone present, including Henry, although Charles is unaware of that. This clip was also uploaded to YouTube, which then transitions into a Rick Roll with Henry's face superimposed over Rick Astley's and Ellie's face superimposed over the female dancer. This fail would later be included in the game, minus the Rick Roll. On June 19th, 2020, Puffballs announced a release date of August 7, 2020 on both Twitter and Steam. On June 30th, 2020, Puffballs announced that Completing the Mission's animation was 'basically done', and that the game would have 16 endings and 164 total fails. On July 15th, 2020, Puffballs released the logo for Completing the Mission, its menu screen and the name of the secret Toppat base, the Toppat Launch Site. On August 6th, 2020, Puffballs released a launch trailer for Completing the Mission, a day before the launch of the game. On August 7th, 2020 (9:00 AM PDT), The Henry Stickmin Collection released on Steam.

    Reception

and The Henry Stickmin Collection as a whole recieved "Overwhelmingly Positive" reviews from steam users, with a 98% rating based on 24,000+ reviews. Reviewers have praised the Collection for its humour, animation, production value (specifically in Completing the Mission), & storylines, with some praising the sense of nostalgia they experienced while playing the game. Markiplier gave a positive review of the collection, calling it an "incredible, hilarious game". The series gained a lot of attention after Markiplier and Jacksepticeye posted videos on the games. This wound up paying off during the release of Completing the Mission, with many other streamers playing it as a result and by extension, the other games as well due to it being part of the collection. This resulted in the entire series' popularity exploding over the course of August 2020. The release of Mission itself resulted in a bump for Among Us (another game by Puffballs & Innersloth), given its crewmembers serve as a group of collectibles and one of the FAILs reference it by name. During mid-2021, this series caught the eye of many VTubers, especially those of hololive, and it saw a rise of interest in Japan as a result, even getting fan-made Japanese subtitles as a result.
