17 de fev. de 2020 · So my friend bought me resident evil 4 and after installing the game and clicking the play button a box pops up asking if I want to allow this game to make changes to this computer, after clicking yes I would receive a fatal error saying steam must be running to play this game.

22 de jan. de 2015 · Una solución puede ser que desactives el apartado de "modo compatibilidad" y "ejecutar como administrador" en el .exe del Resident Evil 4 el cual se encuentra en "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Resident Evil 4\Bin32".
I've been playing through and loving RE:4 HD Edition on Steam but with one chapter to go I've been completely locked out the game on two levels. Bug 1 - "Fatal Error: Steam Must be running to play this game". So this started happening randomly after previously loading the game many many times.
List of potential solutions: Try the suggestion in this post (i.e. delete app cache folder and run Steam as administrator). Failing that, and I know you said you'd tried, but just in case, this post says changing compatibility settings to Windows 8 resolved it for them.
