De-Clicker can also just make labels around clicks without repairing them. This information may be useful, for instance, if you want to find dB threshold setting just low enough to detect certain of the clicks.

Some menus items moved around between 2.0.5 and 2.4.2, but the Windows installer version (.exe) includes a very comprehensive manual (accessed through Audacity’s Help menu). Version 2.4.2 is considerably more recent, and was the culmination of the 2.x series.

Generate → Noise → White with a duration to match the original file (you can also try pink noise). Try an amplitude of 0.01 to start (that’s -40dB).
