CONSIDER TWO STATEMENTS JESUS MADE ABOUT THE END: “Keep on the watch, therefore, because you know neither the day nor the hour.” —MATTHEW 25:13. “Keep looking, keep awake, for you do not know when the appointed time is.” —MARK 13:33. So no one on earth knows exactly when this system of things will come to an end.
What the Bible says. “The righteous will possess the earth, and they will live forever on it.”. — Psalm 37:29. What else can we learn from the Bible? The last days will end with the removal of all wickedness. — 1 John 2:17. The earth will be transformed into a paradise. — Isaiah 35:1, 6.
Even though we cannot know the exact day and hour, Jesus did provide a composite “sign,” or group of events, that would identify the time period leading up to the end of the world.
