Marlborough College is a public school (English private boarding school) for pupils aged 13 to 18 in Marlborough, Wiltshire, England. It was founded as Marlborough School in 1843 by the Dean of Manchester, George Hull Bowers, for the education of the sons of Church of England clergy. [1]

There have been so many adventurous Marlburians. Amongst the most interesting is Frank Bickerton (C3 1901–04), Arctic explorer, treasure hunter, soldier, aeronaut, entrepreneur and movie-maker. He made a major contribution to the Australasian Antarctic expedition of 1911–14 for which he designed a sledge.
This batch of objects focuses on Marlborough’s first Masters. It is particularly appropriate to celebrate two of these figures now because their aims and aspirations for the College are still relevant today.
